Last week I was on vacay. First full week of vacay that I have taken in three years! It was not a planned week of vacay though. The initial plan was for me to take Wednesday, Thursday and Friday off, but my boss (best boss ever) decided kinda last minute that I should go ahead and take the whole week. It was our first vacay since he became Judge, and I really can't do anything when he isn't around anyway. Since it was a last minute decision, we had no extravagant plans. I must say that I rather enjoyed having no specific plans. I really enjoyed just spending time with my little family. Here are some random pictures taken during the week...

1. Started her first addiction...Starbucks (disclaimer: it is decaf and I only allowed her a sip)

Reflection

Yesterday afternoon I had a little free time, and I found myself taking up that spare time by browsing old pictures on Facebook. After a few minutes of clicking through pictures I realized what a change my life has made. It happened over time, so I guess it kinda snuck up on me. It is a wonderful change, and I would do nothing to go back to that other time in my life.

What is the "other time" you might ask??? The "other time" is the time before my sweet Ava. There are the times b.A. (before Ava) and the times a.A. (after Ava). While life b.A. was fun and I have countless good memories of that time, the time a.A. is indescribably better. Things are not pretty all of the time, but they are so worth every second with that sweet girl!

Easter was so much fun this year! Even though it was not Ava's first Easter, she was 1 week 5 days old last year, it was the first one she was excited about. She really enjoyed every minute of it (except when we tried to make her put the eggs she found into the basket)!!!

Then we got all dressed up and we went to Pa-paw and Mimi's for Easter lunch...

she had figured out earlier that the eggs contained candy, so she REALLY did not want to put them in the basket lol...

Since we had an ice cream cake, Ava got her very own cupcake to dig into. Of course she enjoyed ice cream cake too!

She was not very sure about it at first, but after a little coaxing from Mommy and Daddy she began to dig in.

Then it was time to dig into all of the presents she got! This kid is seriously ~~spoiled~~ loved. She always seems to walk away from all special occasions with crazy amounts of stuff!

12 Months

Where did twelve months go so fast?! Before I go into bragging on our little Bug I must brag on her mommy and daddy. I have told many people lately that while the tiny little newborn we brought home was sweet, tiny and amazing, she was also exhausting, time consuming and mind boggling. I enjoy this stage of her life much more than that newborn stage. Every day is a new adventure! I am so proud of what our little Miss Ava is learning and growing into, but I MUST say that she is the VERY happy little girl that she is because her mommy and daddy have been patient, loving and and diligent in their taking care of her.

With that said, at 12 months Miss Ava can:

-take steps on her own! She is not full fledge walking yet, but she is definitely taking steps!!!

-talking all of the time, but we can't understand a word she is saying because it is in complete gibberish ;)

-happily play by herself. She also enjoys watching older kids play.

-will place things in your hand if you hold your hand out and ask for them. Take that 10 month exam questionnaire! Who needs to work on social interaction skills now?!

-watch Mickey Mouse Playhouse all day long! She L-O-V-E-S when they do the "hot dog dance" at the end, and often stands up and moves her body around attempting to join in on the fun.

-sleep in a bigger room. That's right Tim and I worked hard for an entire week to get Ava moved into a bigger room. We did just in time too, because the closet in that room has a little more space and she got a whole new wardrobe at her birthday party (I will blog about that shortly).

-sit in your lap and watch TV. She will toddle up to you, put her arms in the air and smile the biggest smile silently saying, "put me in your lap"! She and I do this most afternoons when I get home from work and Tim is fishing. Its really quite nice to enjoy those few silent moments with her laid back on my chest. I know I won't get her to do this forever, so I let her do it as long as she wants.

I got her a cute little outfit to wear to daycare on her special day. The daycare workers met us at the door to sing happy birthday to her! She is a clear favorite up there ;)

It is beyond amazing to me how fast a little one can grow! God can perform truly amazing acts!

Emergency Flower Girl

My oldest best friend, Brittney's, sister, Hayden, got married! Hayden called me early the morning of her wedding day half way panicked because her flower girl had been in the ER the night before, and couldn't play the role of flower girl that day. So off I go to Dillard's in search of the cutest fill-in flower girl dress. AND wa-la...

...we have the cutest emergency flower girl ever!

11 Months

Miss Ava is growing like a little weed! Where has 11 months gone too?? People tell you that time flies, but until you have a little one I don't think that you can really understand what that really means.

At 11 months Miss Ava can:

-crawl with lightening fast speed.

-walk as long as she is holding on to something. She wants to let go and try to walk on her own, but she is just not confident enough yet.

-stand without holding on to anything.

-squat down and stand back up without falling down.

-sleep through the night, but she will not do it every night. Hey, mom and dad will take a few all nights over no all nights.

-eat anything that Mommy and Daddy eats. Her favorites right now are chicken nuggets, french fries, spaghetti, chocolate animal crackers and fruit loops.

-drink whole milk, but will only drink it with strawberry or chocolate Nesquik in it.

-drink only from a sippy cup! Bye-Bye bottle!

It is almost impossible to get her to sit still for a picture now.

Kitchen cabinets and pancake dinners

Miss Ava L-O-V-E-S to play in our kitchen cabinets. She spends many nights pulling all of the mixing bowls out into the floor while I cook dinner. I hope that one day this love for playing in kitchen cabinets turns into loving to cook yummy food!

Miss Ava also L-O-V-E-S to eat pancakes! She also enjoys being able to sit at the table like a big girl and eat dinner with Mommy. I can't let her do it every night, but when we eat something that is not messy, i.e. pancakes, then she can pretend to be a big girl :)

10 Months

Miss Ava is still growing and learning by leaps and bounds...it is exhausting just trying to keep up with all of the new things that she does on a daily basis!

At 10 months Ava can:

- walk while holding on to things (tables, couches, baby strollers, people).

- help take everything out of any cabinet.

- eat regular food. She absolutely positively refuses to eat baby food!

- clap her hands when she is excited about something.

- stand without holding on to anything.

- hand something to you if you ask for it (even though she thinks you are supposed to give it right back).

- still babble saying da-da, ga-ga, na-na, but still no ma-ma.

- interact with TV by laughing, smiling, and dancing when she enjoys what is on it.

- kick off any socks or shoes placed on her feet with lightening fast speed.

- feed herself a bottle and any food you put in reach of her hands.

10 months already.
Yes people, my little Ava is 10 months old today!!! Where has 10 months gone?? She is so precious, and growing WAY too fast...check back tomorrow for my update post on what she has learned to do from month 9 to month 10.

Dinner list.
While reading through other blog posts for Miscellany Monday I happened upon a blogger who posted her plans for dinner for this entire week! Oh how I wish that I could be that woman. Not only did she already have dinner for an ENTIRE week planned out, she had really good dinners planned, restaurant style dinners. I am going to be honest and tell you right now that I am doing good to plan Tuesday's dinner Monday night much less having the entire week planned by Monday morning!

Guilty Reading.
I have a guilty pleasure, and it is reading young adult books. Right now I have been introduced to a series called Uglies. It is addicting and I love it so there!

Miscellany Monday

Friends ARE Family. Today on the way to eat lunch with his Dad, Tim informed me that anyone that is not blood related to you is not your family. I beg to differ! Some days I do not know what I would do without my family of friends!

Baby free time. I often find myself feeling guilty to let Ava go stay with someone so that I can have some me time, but this weekend, for the first time since November, I asked her Aunt G and Uncle T to babysit for a few hours. It was SO nice to be able to walk into a store and look. I was actually able walk around the strip mall in absolutely NO hurry. AND to top the afternoon off...I went home and laid on the couch and watched Sex and the City for TWO QUIET HOURS!!! Of course after five hours (seemed like two days) without my beautiful little girl I couldn't take it anymore, and I went to pick her up.

Loved baby. I have the MOST loved little girl in the world! I swear I have never seen so many people love a child. She has more Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Grandparents than any child I have ever known. I feel so blessed that I have surrounded myself with such wonderful people, and I hope that one day Ava understands how blessed she is. Most importantly I hope that I am able to extend to her the knowledge to not take these people who love her so dearly for granted.

Wee Bit Wednesday

{one} have you ever been on tv?haha nope... I have always tried to stay OUT of the spotlight :) {two} what was the best movie you saw last year?ummm my favorite was probably The Ugly Truth. Such a cute movie! Not the best movie I have ever watched, but it was a really cute, girly movie.

{three} do you sleep with your sheets tucked in or out?I H-A-T-E to feel like I am trapped in my bed so I definitely do NOT sleep with my sheets tucked in!

{four} do you cut coupons?No. I have really thought about. Even asked for advice from a friend about how to do it and what blogs to read to figure it all out, but I am just not disciplined enough to make myself do it :(

{five} do you ever count your steps when you walk?No. I think my mind is generally racing on too many other things that need to be done.

{six} what sauce do you dip your chicken nuggets in?Honey mustard fo sho!

{seven} do you have any magazine subscriptions?No, I read too many books to keep up with magazines too :)

9 Months

On Christmas Eve our baby girl was NINE months old! She is growing so fast that we can barely keep up with her. Everyday she has learned something new. It is so refreshing to watch her discover new things that we take for granted on a daily basis.

At nine months old Ava:

- crawls like a champ!

- pulls up and stands while holding on to something.

- eats regular food...and we have yet to find something that she does not like.

- puts said regular food in her mouth by herself. As a matter of fact EVERYTHING in reach goes straight to her mouth.

- talks with her hands.

- says "dada" "gaga" "baba".... just about anything but MAMA!

- HATES shoes, socks, anything placed on her feet.

- takes a bath in the big tub!

- has five teeth, two on top and three on bottom.

8 months

Ava is now a crawler! She talks on a regular basis and even though we have no idea what she is babbling about we talk back like we do. She has definitely chosen Daddy as favorite for now. Actually she has chosen men in general as a favorite. She is beginning to eat table food. She has outgrown the sink as a bath tub:( She has also now experienced an ear infection...mom and dad were scared to death...why doesn't anyone tell you about what ear infections turn your child into???

Such a cutie! We are enjoying every single moment!

New Year, Football and Friends

New Year's Eve was a warm day, so we took Ava onto the back porch to play in the sunshine. She really enjoyed toddling around in her stroller watching her Daddy out in the yard.

Then some of our most favorite people came over to watch the last UGA game of the season and to help ring in the New Year.

Christmas 2010

I know that I am far beyond late on posting anything to this blog, and I am not even going to apologize this time. I am just going to say that I will try to do better :)

You can't stay mad at me when I show you this cuteness ;)

So Christmas 2010 was our first Christmas as a family! Very exciting!!!

Ava enjoyed the BOWS on the presents and nothing else

That's right Ava really did not care about anything except the bows! By Christmas morning she had removed the bows from every single gift under the tree!!

I just realized how much she looks like her daddy in this picture!

Tim and I made the decision to not plan to do anything for Christmas day until after lunch time so that we could spend the morning as a family in a "no-rush" environment. I must say that I LOVE that we made that decision, and every single Christmas from now until forever will be exactly the same!

Ava didn't really take to opening gifts this year mainly because every time she pulled the paper she put it in her mouth and I pulled it out of her mouth. This process frustrated her a lot so she just decided to stop trying and stick to her beloved bows.

7 months

I can't even begin to believe that seven months ago today my baby bug was born! She is just growing and changing second by second it seems. Everyday she seems to learn something new or do something different! So at seven months Ava:

- sits up with no assistance and play with her toys.

- eats breakfast, lunch and dinner. Today she tried Chicken Noodle baby food for the first time and LOVED it. She still enjoys pears, apples, squash and carrots. She has also added green beans and sweet peas to the list.

- will eat every puff in the container. L-O-V-E-S them more than anything else.

-grabs everything in her reach! Do NOT take her into a store and let her get close to a rack because she will take it all down :)

- pushes herself completely up on her hands while lying on her tummy. She is finally starting to tolerate being on her tummy thank goodness.

- tries to get her knees up under her body, but every time she gets there she just falls over to the side.

- laughs at just about anything that her daddy does (kid loves her daddy more than anyone).

- is skeptical of people. I have learned to allow her to sit with me or Tim for a few before I hand her over to someone else. Otherwise she starts poking her lip out and then the crying begins.

-sometimes hides her face in my chest when she sees new people.

- has TWO teeth. Both are on the bottom. No sign of any top teeth yet and we are okay with that:)
- is still a little bit of a runt compared to clothes size b/c she is just now able to wear 3/6 month clothes.
- still does not sleep through the night:(

Put some Braves on the TV and the kid is a-ok

She will pull out every single toy and grunts until you to put it all back so she can start over again.

And 6 months later...

our little Ava is no longer a baby, but she is now a little person! It is absolutely amazing what a sweet little girl can learn in such a very short period of time!
Ava at 5 months old

Of course before I tell you about what she can do at 6 months I have to tell you what she was doing at 5 months.

At 5 months Ava :

- could roll over in all directions.

- still absolutely hated laying on her tummy...I am convinced that she will never crawl.

- ate breakfast every morning.

- enjoyed her favorite fruit is pears and her favorite veggie is squash.

- still enjoys watching TV. Her favorites are Super Why, Wonder Pets, and Dinosaur Train.

- enjoys reading with mommy, but it is almost impossible at times because she wants to hold the book and control the page turning. Mommy cannot keep up with Ava's pace on this one;)

- LOVES bath time! She is definitely going to be a water baby! Can't wait to see her swimming in a pool next year!

- plays with simple toys. Her favorites are her plastic keys.

- could grab things and pick them up.

Ava at 6 months old

At 6 months old Ava :

- can completely push herself up on her hands and pull herself around, but she still hates laying on her tummy so getting her to actually do this generally requires making her whine. In other words...it happens rarely.

- can sit unassisted. We L-O-V-E this one because we can now sit her down in the floor and she can occupy herself for a short time with her toys.

- plays with most toys. Her favorite thing to play with is anything that she can get to her mouth :)

- has acquired a tooth!!! It has just broken the gum, but it is there!

- babbles to anything that she thinks is listening to her.

- reaches for the cat. Poor Miss Kitty just runs for the hills hahahaha

- eats two meals a day (breakfast and dinner). Still loves pears and squash, but will eat mostly anything except bananas and sweet peas.

- loves playing in her Exersaucer, but does NOT like to be in her walker.

- enjoys that PBS now has The Cat in the Hat on at 7:30 a.m. It is her favorite book, and she really enjoys the show too.

- still wakes up once at night and at 7:00 a.m. like clock work.

- was told at her six month Well Check that she is perfect. Dr. Flowers was very impressed with her in all areas.

- is constantly asked by her daddy if something is wrong with her because she is too happy heehee. She seriously is one to the happiest babies that I think I have ever met!

- can hold her own bottle.

- will drink from a sippy cup on occasion.

Isn't she just too cute?!

She will be seven months old in just a few days, and I promise to be timely in posting about what she is up to now!

You still wanna be Judge down there?

Is the question that was asked of my very AWESOME boss on July 12, 2010. Yes that's right it has taken me this long to write about it (I think I mentioned it briefly in a previous post, but never followed up with it) so sorry for lack of posting:(
Anyway, on August 18, 2010, Mr. William C. Rumer was sworn in by Governor Sonny Perdue and was officially named JUDGE William C. Rumer. I cannot express how immensely proud that I was to sit in that room and watch such a wonderful person be bestowed such a tremendous honor!

was born on August 14, 2010. He is absolutely positively precious! I am so sorry that I have waited this long to post the announcement and a picture of the little man.

Well Check

Tuesday was the day for the dreaded 4 month well check visit with Dr. Flowers. I say dreaded because well check means shots...ugh :( Ava weighed in at 14 pounds 3 ounces and is now 25.5 inches long! She is getting big right?! Dr. Flowers says her growth is right on track and he is very proud of her hitting milestones early or right on time. Of course he wanted to see her roll over and as soon as he laid her on the table she poked her lip and started to scream...that's my girl :) He finally addressed her eczema issue that had turned into a big RED rash taking over her body little by little, and I am very happy to say that the steroid cream he gave to us has worked wonders, and she looks like she never had eczema! Our Bug has also had issues with her sinuses since she was about three months old and Tim was told at an earlier visit that she was too little for any medication. Dr. Flowers told me that this wasn't true and told me to go get her some over the counter Zyrtec or Claritin and switch her to a soy based formula. Other than that she is perfect!

She loves to sit in her high chair and watch the Braves play baseball.

A Whirlwind...

is what I have been in lately. My very wonderful boss received a phone call from the Governor on Monday, July 12 at around 10:30 a.m. to say that he was to be sworn in as the newest Superior Court Judge in the Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit!!!!! Everything has been total chaos for me since then...in a good way of course. So very soon Mr. Rumer will take the bench and he has asked me to come along with him and continue to be his right hand woman! I feel very privileged that he thinks so highly of me, but this means lots of prep work in a very short time.

Anyway, along with the exciting judgeship news Ava and I had a baby shower for my sister, Robyn, to attend.

I can't believe that Candler will be here in just a few weeks!

Saturday, July 24 Ava turned 4 months old! Can't believe it!

Here is a collage of how she has changed (top right 1 month, top left 2 months, bottom right 3 months, bottom left 4 months)...

Today we are going to visit the magnificent Hadley Scott for her 4 month panel pictures. I just can't believe that it is already time to do them! And next week we go see Dr. Flowers for her 4 month well check and shots.

At four months old Ava can:

- Roll over to her tummy, but cries when she gets there because she hasn't figured out how to get back.

- Still doesn't really like being on her tummy, but she can push herself up and look around a little bit now.

- Tries to scoot when she is lying on her tummy.

- Grabs her feet and almost pulls them to her mouth.

- Babbles non-stop at all times of the day and night.

- Wakes me in the morning babbling not crying.

- Sleeps until seven most mornings.

- Enjoys eating rice cereal made with Apple Juice.

- Enjoys sitting in her high chair long after she has finished eating.

- Recognizes mommy and daddy and greets them with a smile.

- Plays with simple toys, but enjoys chewing on a burp cloth more.

- Enjoys standing in her ExerSaucer.

- Still loves Dinosaur Train and SuperWhy on PBS.

4th of July Weekend

was tons-o-fun! Friday Robyn, Michael, Cameron and Ethan came down to visit. Robyn and Michael watched Ava while Cameron and I went to see Eclipse (best movie so far in the Twilight Saga) and Tim cut the grass while Ethan followed every move he made. Ethan LOVES his Uncle Tim! I wish that I had have thought to get the camera out and snap some pictures, but it all went by too fast.

Saturday we packed up and headed over to Mr. Billy's house for some delicious BBQ and a good time around the pool.

Ava went on her first swim and enjoyed it (at least I think she did anyway).

T-Ball, Daddy and Three

are the magical words this week. I have so many things to tell about in this post so let me get straight to the point!
Saturday Ava and I ventured to big ole Thomaston to watch Ethan play his first t-ball game of the season. He seems to enjoy t-ball a little better this year, but he still hates standing out in left field. He tried telling the coach that his stomach hurt, but that did not work with Robyn, she sent him right back onto the field lol.

He always enjoys when he gets to bat though, and he is actually pretty good at it. He did get to run in to score after his first time at bat!

After the t-ball game we went to spend some time with my Nana. Ava has not had the opportunity to meet her great-grandmother until Saturday so they were both very excited!

Sunday was Father's Day, and like Mother's Day we did not do anything special at all. We just laid around the house and rested. As a matter of fact I believe that Tim got up with us that morning and ended up going right back to bed and staying there until around 1. We didn't take any pictures since we didn't do anything special. Ava and I LOVE you Timmy! You are the best daddy that a little girl could ever ask for...thank you for all of your help and support!

Tuesday was a very big day for our Ava bug...she went to her first sick child doctor's visit AND she rolled over all by herself for the first time! The sick child visit was just for a little cough and some congestion that I had noticed Ava had in the mornings. The nurse practitioner said Ava is too little for medication, so we should just try propping her up at night to allow the drainage to go down. Propping Ava up has proven to be impossible, but what else is new...she likes things the way she likes things lol. As for rolling over...wellllll she started trying to roll from her back to her tummy Saturday while we were in Thomaston, but she could never figure out how to move her arm out of the way. So Tuesday night I put her on her tummy time mat and went into the kitchen to start cooking dinner. (Disclaimer: Our kitchen and den are opened up to one another so I can stand at the stove and see Ava in the floor in the den. She is not just left laying around unsupervised.) As I'm cooking and listening to her babble I look up just in time to see her flop over flat on her tummy! I was so excited and proud!

Silly me put her back on her back and went back to cooking without thinking, "Hey she might do it again. Stick around with the camera so you can video her." So of course later she had rolled back over and wiggled until she got comfortable and passed out.

Annnnnddddd three is a magical word because Ava is three months old today! Can you believe it?! So of course here are pictures of her in her chair...

Some things she can do now:

- She is a smiling baby. She smiles all of the time now for all different kinds of reasons. Of course the earlier in the day you see her the more likely you are to catch one of these smiles.

- She can roll over from her back to her tummy (still perfecting this skill, but she can do it)

- She holds her head up on her own now.

- She can sit up as long as she is propped on something.

- She enjoys her bebePOD for short periods of time (15-20 minutes).

- She really enjoys watching TV. Her favorite shows to watch are Super Why and Dinosaur Train on PBS, Wonder Pets and the Backyardigans on Nick Jr. and of course she L-O-V-E-S to watch the Braves play with her daddy.

- She enjoys standing when someone will hold her so that she can.

- She does not like to lay down when she is awake unless she is laying on her tummy time mat in the floor where she can see everything that is going on around her.

- She has found her hands and chews on them constantly.

- She will hold a rattle if you place it in her hand, but she hasn't quite grasped the concept of picking it up herself.

- She will sometimes hold her bottle now, especially at her bedtime feeding.

- She is sleeping until 6:30 or 7:00 in the morning most nights now.

I am sure that there are other things that I am not thinking of right now, but these are the big ones.

Morning Sunshine

I keep telling everyone that they miss Ava at her peak. Sure she is cute during all other times of the day, but her happiest is between the hours of 9 a.m. and noon. Last night I tried to get her smiling on video because her smiles come and go so fast and they are so unpredictable that you can't capture them in a picture quite yet. It just was not happening so I started to think..."How can I get her smiling face out to the world?" PING! The light bulb went off...when she starts stirring around in the morning grab the camera and video her when you say "Good morning!" She always smiles big when I tell her good morning:) So that is exactly what I did this morning and it worked! The first part of the video is kinda dark because I wasn't thinking about my shadow being cast over her, but I did think about it a few seconds in and moved out of the way...Yay me! So enjoy this cuteness...

Dinners, Cousins and Poolside FUN

What a weekend?!

It started with dinner Friday night with the wonderful Rumer family. I always love my time with Meghan and William, and I was so glad that Tim and Sam finally got to join in on our fun time:) In retrospect I cannot believe that neither me nor Meghan thought about taking pictures...I MUST remember the next time William and Ava are together that they have to have a picture together! William was too cute crawling all over the place (it was my first time getting to see him crawl), and then we got to witness him enjoying his berry cobbler (making a complete mess). Oh what we have to look forward to lol. And of course the food and visiting with Sam and Meghan was SUPER too;) Since we didn't take any pictures here is a picture of the Rumers (stole it from Meghan's Facebook). Aren't they a gorgeous fam?!

New Baby Recognition at St. Paul this past Sunday

Saturday Ava and I packed up and headed to T-Town. She was such a good baby and slept the whole way there. Of course everyone was SOOOO excited to see her, especially Ethan.

No one but Robyn has seen Ava since Ethan's birthday party at the beginning of May so they were all amazed at how much she has grown and changed. We just sat around the house and walked through Momma and Papa's garden. It was a very relaxing day (other than the driving there and back home).

Sunday we went poolside at Sissy's house. Ava had eaten right before we got there, and she slept in her travel swing (under an umbrella of course) for the first two hours. Poor Brodie had been waiting for two whole weeks to see his "best baby", and it just killed him to see her laying in that swing and he couldn't touch her. He kept taking his little chair and sitting beside her so that he would know the second that she woke up. Of course she woke up hungry so he insisted on helping feed her...

Blayd even joined in on the Ava festivities yesterday. He normally just runs by saying "Baby", but yesterday he took a few seconds to stop and "pet" her as Brodie likes to say (because all babies like to be "pet" lol). We L-O-V-E our time at Casa de Mann and our Nason-Paul-Dixon-Gaines-Mann family!

After our fun day at the pool we went home for some much needed rest...

Week 10

Ava L-O-V-E-S to sit (straight) up, so while reading mommy blogs (I am addicted) I came across something called a bebePOD and I decided that Ava MUST have one. Off to BabiesRUs Tim and I went Wednesday afternoon to find one, and after 30 minutes of staring at the assortment of rubber chairs we decided on this one. Ava likes it, but only for small amounts of time. I think it will grow on her once she can hold herself up a little better:)

Last night after giving Ava her bath she was overly talkative so I ran and grabbed the camera to get a quick video of her babbling away.

Ava found her mobile!

I have found that if I put Ava back in her crib with the mobile and its cool blinking lights on after her 3 am feeding she will go back to sleep, no crying or anything. This led to my brilliant idea of doing the same thing Sunday afternoon while Tim was cutting grass and I was trying (operative word here is "trying") to put away laundry. It was the first time that I noticed that Ava actually stayed awake and enjoyed looking at the mobile. So here is a two minute video of her watching her mobile (there is some talking and smiling involved too).

According to the Dr...

Ava is right on track! We went Tuesday for Ava's two month check-up. Dr. Flowers didn't even get to examine her before he was being called away to the hospital, so we went on with getting the dreaded shots and rescheduled for Thursday so that the Dr. could look her over. She was a champ getting the shots! She literally cried for 5 secs! Of course this was possible thanks to the superhuman speed that the girl gave the shots to her...I mean I have never seen someone give shots so fast! She now weighs 10lbs14oz (6lbs10oz at birth) and is 24 inches long (19.5 at birth), so she is growing like a little weed. Dr. Flowers said that she is right on track with her milestones...she is even hitting some earlier than expected (yes Nana Patty she is advanced even in Dr. Flowers' eyes *giggles*). Next appointment is in August at her 4 month check up unless of course she becomes sick which is definitely possible now that she is in daycare:( Yes I am still stuck on the fact that she has to go to daycare, and yes I know it will get better blah blah blah...I'll get over it soon I promise:)

2 month update

Our little Ava was officially two months old on Monday, and look how big she has gotten. I can't believe that time is flying by so fast. I know that everybody says take it all in because it goes by so fast, but until Ava entered my life I don't think I really understood exactly what they meant.

Monday also marked the first day that she was placed in the big world of daycare. She has done well in daycare. The girls just love her and tell us that she is just the sweetest little baby. She really is a great baby. We have been so fortunate because she is only fussy when she is hungry or when she needs to be changed. All that could change at any time, but I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will stay the same:)

Things that Ava can do at two months:

- She is doing really good with holding her head up on her own, and as you can tell she can pretty much sit by herself when she is propped up against something i.e. a chair.

- She is starting to try to talk.

- She finally started to notice her mobile (if it is moving) and toys (if they are placed right in front of her).

- She will push her legs when she is laid on her tummy. She is really good at scooting herself if you let her get frustrated enough lol.

- She wiggles all over and can pretty much roll from her side to her back and from her back to her side.

- She has started to put her hands on her bottle when I feed her. She isn't holding it by any means, but she definitely puts her hand there for some reason;)

- She will smile when you talk to her in a "baby talk" voice.

- She loves Popsicles (yes I know that this is not a milestone, and some people might even say that giving it to her is bad, but her daddy insists upon doing it and she really does love em.)

- She has also gotten into a bed time routine. Around 7:30 she gets a bath, then drinks a bottle, and by 9:00 she is tucked away in bed. This happens just about every night, of course there is the occasional time when it doesn't happen quite so smoothly lol, but for the most part this is the routine.

I can't believe that 2 months has come and gone so quickly! Can't wait to see what month three brings our way:)

Brodie fell in love the first time he saw her. Aren't they just too cute?! Brodie specifically asked that Sissy get the camera out and take pictures:) And he also made sure to set up the next play date before we left the house. Thankfully for him it is getting warm out and being by the pool at Casa de Mann will be commonplace for us.

Five years ago...

On Thursday, April 28, 2005, I stood beside a hospital bed and watched my little sister give me the most awesome gift ever, my nephew. I remember standing there in awe of her and her strength hoping that maybe, just maybe, one day I would be able to do what she was doing with not one complaint, not one wimper, not one cry for help. That night my sister, and the little baby that she brought into this world, changed my life forever. Ethan Cole Adams has been sunshine in my life on days when there have been some really stubborn, very dark clouds. I cannot believe that it has already been five years! My how time really does fly!

Last Sunday,Timmy, Ava and I packed up the car and headed out on our first trip to T-Town as a family. Ava was just 5 weeks and some days old so we were hoping that we could make it to Weaver Park before she started screaming, but it didn't quite work that way. Timmy was climbing over the passenger seat into the backseat somewhere between Riverbend and Roland Road lol. Ava decided that she couldn't make it all the way into town before she needed to eat. Little piglet, when she is hungry she is hungry:) Anyhow, we made it safe and sound, and everyone was surrounding the car before we could get the doors open. They just couldn't wait to see our little Ava! We had a GREAT time with family and friends and called it a day after just 2 1/2 hours to head back home.

Introducing Miss Ava

So a lot has happened in the one month that i have not posted anything. I must apologize now for being such a terrible blogger, and not keeping everyone informed of what's going on in our lives. So let us start where I left off:)
Last I wrote I told you that Dr. Umana said since we had been good patients that I could possibly be induced at 38 or 39 weeks...weeeelllll Ava decided to come on her own at 38 weeks! I will not give all of the details of the birth story, but long story short I went to see Dr. Umana for my 38 week appointment and I was dilated 2 cm, he stripped my membranes at 3:30, told me to go home and take it easy, at 5:00 p.m. I was having contractions, at 9:15 p.m. I was in active labor, and at 1:15 a.m. we were on the way to the hospital.

At 6:00 a.m. they were admitting me into the L & D room, and at 3:07 p.m. our lives were forever changed when we welcomed Miss Ava Elizabeth Webb into the world.

Easter morning (4 days old)

So we have been home for a full month now, and things are going good. We have survived when at times we thought we might not lol. Ava is growing by leaps and bounds. She changes everyday! It makes me wish more and more that I did not have to go back to work and put her in daycare because all that I can think about is what I am going to miss for those 8-9 hours that I am not home with her:(

I have really been a slacker when it comes to blogging lately! Sorry everybody! I have just had so much going on and I am completely exhausted all of the time now.

Let's see where should I begin??

Well I guess nothing really exciting has been going on with the exception of the shower that took place Sunday. It was so much fun and Ava got so much stuff!!! I mean seriously wait until you see the pics...the kid got anything and everything anyone could think of... The girls did a GREAT job! Everything was so cute with the colors of the nursery spread all around Marc's house, and Cannon even got Marc to wear his pink collared shirt lol. Seriously though I really could not have asked for a better baby shower! Thanks to all who made it possible!!! Since the shower I have purchased the last of the furniture to be placed in the nursery...

I bought it Sunday night and it has been shipped Site-to-Store so it should be here any day now. I can't wait because it will complete my nursery. The nursery just isn't complete until there is somewhere for me to rock my baby girl to sleep! This will leave only two things for me to do for the nursery to be totally finished...make the bumper pads and wash and put up the enormous amount of stuff that we got Sunday. I have full confidence that this can all be accomplished this weekend. Maybe next week I can update with pictures of a completely put together nursery!!!

In other news, Monday marked 34 weeks so of course I had a 34 week check up with Dr. Umana on Tuesday. He said that both mom and baby are doing good and he is proud of us. As way of showing just how proud he is he told me that if we continue to be good patients then we can be induced at 38 or 39 weeks! I was so excited to hear that because I know that by then I will be beyond ready! For those of you looking for a specific date, well we won't know that until we make the plans, but I can tell you that this means we could have a baby girl anytime between March 23 and April 5 (actual due date)!!!! I'm so excited and can't wait to hold her in my arms!

Well I think that that is all that I have new to share for right now...it should be plenty to hold you over til next time:)

Its a BOY!

I am so behind on blogging...sorry! This is a picture of Baby Shaw about two weeks ago...Robyn had to come down to Columbus to see Dr. Stauffer like I did early in my pregnancy. All looks good with the little one, but even more exciting is that they were already able to tell that it is a BOY! Here is the picture proof...

I'm so excited...I get to become a Mommy to a little girl and an Aunt to another nephew in one years time! Can't wait!

Just had to share my new favorite morning drink... small decaf white chocolate latte from Dunkin Donuts. Isn't it just the cutest little cup?!! I put it next to my regular coffee cup to show the size. There are two GREAT things about this little cup of morning joy: 1. it is only $0.99 right now and 2. it is the perfect size...with a medium I always have about 1/4 of the drink leftover. It is truly the simple things in life that make me happy:)

32 Weeks (WARNING: this might get lengthy)

I am sorry for how long it has been since I have posted any updates! I guess nothing very exciting has happened and I just haven't felt like there has been anything to update anyone on lol. Yesterday marked 32 weeks...time is really flying.... 8 weeks or less until we are holding our baby girl!

The only thing that is going on is me being tired and completely uncomfortable all of the time. But I try really hard to not spend my time complaining because I know that that will not make anything any better. I try to stay as active as I can...so far I am able to do pretty much anything as long as I take it in stride.

Going to the grocery to do actual grocery shopping has gone out the window. I pretty much just go in and get what I need for that moment and go back out, because trying to do anymore than that just wears me out completely and the pain in my pelvis gets to be unbearable after a certain amount of walking around.

Everyone is constantly speculating as to how long I can make it (no one believes that I will be able to make it to April 5th) because they feel like I am just so big already and I won't be able to carry Ava for much longer. I try to tell people that women do this everyday and have been doing this for forever and ever...God made me to carry my little girl around for 40 weeks.

Saturday night I got a much appreciated "you don't really look that big" from Sissy (Jennifer's sister whose name is really Kerri but is called Sissy by family and friends and I have also adopted this name for her because I have another friend named Carrie, and it gets confusing to people when I talk about Carrie and Kerri...long story short it is just easier to keep them straight by calling one Carrie and the other Sissy). Okay, now that I have that long and probably not needed explanation out of the way, Thank. You. Sissy. Quite honestly I feel HUGE and all I can think about is the fact that I am only going to get bigger over the coming weeks.

Anyway, I should really cut this thing off because I think I am just rambling at this point...so here is a bump pic taken today...it kinda looks like I am poking my belly out because of the way I am holding my hands but I promise you that I am not...I actually don't think that it is possible to poke my belly out at this point...it is just kinda there lol.

And this is what babycenter.com says she looks like on the inside...

* Total weight gain: 29 pounds

* How big is baby?: between 3.75 and 4 pounds

* Sex: Girl!

* Movement?: it is slowing down some because she does really have anywhere to go now, but when she does move it just about makes my whole body move lol

* Food cravings?: coffee flavored drinks and sausage and biscuits...I could live off of those two things lol

* Belly button in or out?: neither... it is just flat

* What I miss: right now the two biggies would have to be sleep and wearing my contacts

* What I'm looking forward to: seeing my mom and sisters tomorrow, and then my baby shower next Sunday

Two down, one to go...

Yesterday officially started the third and final trimester!!! Time is really flying...before I know it Tim and I are going to have a little girl on our hands. It is all so scary and exciting at the same time! I had my 28 week appointment today and the doctor informed me that he is looking for me to make it about another 10 weeks...I was like, "Um, but I'm at 28 weeks now. So I have 12 more weeks right?" and Dr. Umana smiles and says "Like I said I give you 10 more weeks." I was completely speechless...I mean I know that I will be plenty ready for her to be out of my belly in 10 weeks, but there is also a part of me that was really counting on that two extra weeks lol. So I guess he is thinking that I am going to get to a point where I just can't carry her around anymore and we will have to be induced...lovely. Either way I just can't believe that she is going to be here so soon!

Nursery Update

Blanket complete...check! And I LOVE it!!! Next mission bumper pads. I am definitely starting to feel the need to nest. I find myself just walking into Ava's room and standing there looking at what will soon be our little girl's room. These projects, like making her blanket, help with that nesting feeling. It makes me feel more a part of the process rather than just going to a store and picking something out, handing a cashier some money, and bringing it home.

Nursery Update

The nursery is coming together slowly but surely. I just had to share this picture of the lamp that I have now finished! It turned out way better than I thought it would! I had to wait for a week for the central park toile fabric to get here from Maine, and when the UPS guy made that knock on my door yesterday afternoon I was so excited that I could not make up my mind whether I wanted to finish the blanket for Ava's crib or the two lampshades that have been patiently waiting to be covered. I decided to do the lampshades because I really didn't feel up to all of the measuring etc that went along with finishing up the blanket, but it will be finished by the end of the weekend and I can't wait to post the pictures of what it all looks like together! For now you will just have to settle for bits and pieces here and there;)

We are in the double digits!!!!

Today marks 26 weeks til Ava's ETA!!! This means that we are now in the double digits...98 days and counting YAY! Jennifer took these picture of me while I was making my daily lunch visit. Yes I do sit in the floor to eat my lunch lol... it won't be too long before I will not be able to get down there though so I'll have to go to pulling one of Mr. Gunby's chairs out of his office to make my visit.

I am waiting on some pictures from Tim's dad and Vivian to upload from Christmas... it was a busy two days with all of the driving and eating, but it was worth it. Can't wait til next year when we have little Ava to tag along with us!

First MAJOR craving hits hard

This post is completely un-baby related BUT the above tree is the very first tree that Tim and I have ever went and actually picked out and brought home and decorated together. This is our third Christmas together and it is the first Christmas that I have not had to beg to decorate! This year I was actually not motivated at all and Tim was all "We got to have a tree!"...He is normally so bah humbug (sp) about Christmas. So here is a picture of it in all of its glory...of course presents will be placed under it:) Merry Christmas everybody!!!

Halfway there!!!!!

Yesterday marked the official halfway point for Ms. Ava's e.t.a. YAY! So what's up with her this week according to the web gurus???
According to http://www.hisboyscanswim.com/dads-pregnancy-guide she is the size of one nice-sized boob lol... I'm assuming that the nice sized boob that they are referring to is one of the ones in the picture that they provided...

Pregnancy Week 20:
Mmmm… Memories. This

According to babycenter.com she should look something like this...

and she should be the length of a banana from her head to her heels.

And for those of you who are wandering here is what she is making my tummy look like...

I had my twenty week appointment with Dr. Umana today, and it went really well. Dr. Umana officially changed me from a high risk pregnancy to a normal pregnancy YAY times two!!! My weight gain is right on track...I have gained 9 pounds since my last appointment so I am up to 116 now. He says that I should gain another 20 or so pounds, and he would really like to see me get to between 130 and 135 at the least. The fundus measured exactly on target. Most importantly to me the heart beat sounded perfect! We didn't do an ultrasound today because I had one just two weeks ago, and I go to see Dr. Stauffer next week where he will do another thorough ultrasound, so there was no reason for one today. Oh and he had reviewed all of the blood work and measurements that Dr. Stauffer's office did a few weeks ago and he was just as pleased with the results as Dr. Stauffer was. So all in all today was a very good day for me and Ms. Ava.

A nursery takes shapes

So last time we talked about the nursery Jennifer and I had just spent the night before removing the man stuff and were about to begin the wonderful journey of painting...duh duh duh.
I really wish that Tim had not taken our camera because no one will ever really understand the transformation that this room will have made once it is all finished! So Tuesday night we cleared out all of the man stuff, Wednesday night we deglossed furniture, Thursday night we painted the first coat of paint on the furniture, Friday night was a night of rest so that Jenn could attend the wonderful Spongebob Squarepants party for her precious nephew Blayd, Saturday was spent painting furniture, Sunday was spent moving furniture around and painting the walls, Monday was a much needed night off, Tuesday night was spent doing a second coat on half of the room's walls, and Wednesday (which was Veterans day so our office was closed) was spent finishing the second coat on the walls and putting all of the furniture back into some kind of order.
WOW that was a lot of work!!! Of course it was all worth it...Jenn helped me on every single day that I just listed so many many thanks to my homegirl for that!!! Sue came over on Saturday and helped me price cribs, removed some border and painted some furniture. Jenn's friend, Chyna, came over on Saturday to help with some painting and again on Wednesday to help move the furniture back to a semi normal state. And of course I can't leave out our very own little Peytone-rouge and her friend Heather who came over on their day out of school and helped finish up with that second coat of paint on the walls. Thanks to all of you guys who helped... you are life-savers!!!!

New wall paint...newly painted black furniture, brushed nickel hardware, and white and light pink accents. Jenn and I spray painted some AWFUL 1970s lamps that Tim had and I made stencils for the initials and TADA!

I found this cute white baskets with pink and white swirl fabric at Michaels...it looks so good with the black dresser!

There is still work to do, but it is all coming together...will post more as it progresses!

19 weeks

So here is what our little girl looks like all cramped up inside my tummy this week...

And a short synopsis of what is going on with her this week according to babycenter.com....

Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size of a large heirloom tomato. Her arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of her body now. Her kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on her scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.

And for those of you who aren't exactly sure what an heirloom tomato looks like (I'm thinking she is closer to the size of one of the big ones lol)....

And a definition for those of you who aren't quite sure of the difference in a regular tomato...

Heirloom tomato cultivars can be found in a wide variety of colors, shapes, flavors and sizes. Some cultivars can be prone to cracking or lack disease resistance. As with most garden plants, cultivars can be acclimated over several gardening seasons to thrive in a geographical location through careful selection and seed saving.

And a Room Idea Was Born...

The pictures above are my inspiration (inspiration being the key word) for little Ava's room. I found them on a random website while doing research on nursery ideas. I began my search through hundreds of pictures and when I came upon these it was like the heavens opened lol... I love the neutral wall color and the black furniture with the white and soft pink accents!!! The only thing that I will definitely be leaving out is the crazy diamond chandelier ...its just TOO much for a nursery in my opinion. I'm also looking for a pink toile to do the bedding in (haven't decided if I am going to make it myself or buy it...hmmmm).

So once an inspiration was found it was time to start working on bringing it to fruition! Tim and Marc left Monday morning for what Tim referred to as "the big trip" to Illinois/Missouri for two whole weeks...this leaves me with lots of spare time on my hands and gave me the opportunity to turn what once was the "hunting room" into a little girls' nursery...lol poor Timmy:) He did officially give me his permission to clear the room on Sunday afternoon so I don't feel soooo bad about removing all of his man stuff and pretty much saying "this has to go."

Jennifer (my amazingly wonderful "buttercup") came over last night, and in only one hour we had sorted and removed ALL of the hunting stuff/fishing stuff/collector cards/sentimental stuff from the new nursery!!!! I was SO proud of us. So tonight begins the real work... we will wipe the furniture down with a deglosser and begin the painting YAY! I will keep you guys informed as the nursery transforms...

She is actually starting to look like a baby now:) I think I fall in love with her a little more each time I see here...Jennifer says that I need to turn the crock pot up to high so she can come out soon lol...

Its a GIRL!!!

Yep we are having a little GIRL (Ava Elizabeth Webb)! The little thing you see in the middle is a combo of an arrow pointing to the girl area and her umbilical cord:) I was a little confused by that myself so I thought I would help you out with that...
This is the first u/s that Tim has been able to attend and he was so cute asking the u/s tech to look at the head again to make sure it was ok and then look at the heart again to make sure its ok...lol...she finally had to just say the doctor will be coming in to look too. Dr. Stauffer assured us that everything looks GREAT, and then proceeded to give Tim some fatherly advice on raising a little girl:)

17 Week Bump

I know I'm a little behind on posting a new "bump" picture...but here it is:)
All of the pregnancy websites say that the little bambino is around the size of an onion this week and my uterus is nearing the size of a cantaloupe. Kinda makes me feel like a produce stand with all of the fruit and veggie references lol...but I understand that they are easy things to reference so I guess I can go with it.
On a more exciting note, I officially felt the first "movment" yesterday!!!! I have been feeling some fluttering around here and there, but yesterday I felt real movement!!! It was so exciting and I find myself just ready for it to happen again and again:)
Tomorrow is my u/s appointment with the maternal-fetal medicine doctor to finish up our genetic testing. Wish me luck and keep your fingers crossed that we could possibly find out the sex!

What's happenin...

Today I am officially 17 weeks!

Nothing has changed for me though, BOOO! I still have morning sickness 5-6 out of the 7 days per week, YUCK! I'm still fighting this awful acne, and I am still awaiting the energy that is supposed to come to me in the second trimester.

The boys left Thursday afternoon for their second weekend trip to Illinois and it has been heaven at 3519 LOL. I truly do enjoy MY quiet hunting vacations! I mean no man roaming about the house making mess after mess to clean up...no breakfast/dinners that MUST be cooked...no need to get dressed or put on makeup and look decent...ok I should seriously stop here or someone is going to get worried about me:) I promise I'm not suffering from any kind of depression, but it is nice (especially right now when I am completely exhausted anyway) to have a few days to myself.

I don't remember if I have mentioned having to meet with a genetics counselor because of what happened with little Madison (the little girl that Robyn lost 2 yrs ago)...anyway I had to have two sets of blood work done for them (one in the 1st trimester and one in the 2nd trimester) and then I had to have two sets of ultrasounds done (one in the 1st trimester and one in the 2nd trimester). Well Beth, the genetics counselor, called on Friday to let me know that my blood work came back fine (they tested for everything from down's syndrome to spina bifida). I have to go in this Thursday to do the second u/s, and as long as everything looks good on that front then I will be released from their care, YAY!!!

Well that's about it for now...I will post u/s pics from Thursday as soon as possible...oh yeah and I will work on getting a new bump pic...

The ultrasound that almost didn't happen...

Ok...the Dr. told me at my first appointment that he wanted to check things out at 16 weeks rather than waiting for 20 weeks so I made an appointment for this morning. I got there at 8:00 and went back to have my bloodwork done, then saw Lauren (who informed me that she just found out that she is pregnant...YAY) for my nurse interview, then went back to the lobby to await my ultrasound. About five minutes later the receptionist calls me to the window and asks me why I am waiting. I told her that the doctor wanted to do an ultrasound due to previous pregnancy related issues. Five minutes later the Ultrasound Tech comes and gets me and informs me that she can find no reason to do the ultrasound today because the last one looked normal. I told her what the doctor explained to me at my last visit and she informed me that the doctor was not in but if I wanted to then I could wait on him to get there. So of course I planted my little butt in a chair in the lobby and waited on the doctor to come in. I had already decided that if the doctor wasn't in by 10:00 then I was just going to have to leave and go to work, but at 9:55 the tech came out and got me to come back and do the ultrasound.
Baby Webb is VERY active!! He/she has a good heart rate and everything else looks normal so far. We did not find out the sex today....BOOOO!!!!! I think that there is a possibility that the tech could have figured it out, but she was angry because I was right and she was wrong so she did not really try BOOOOO again!!! Anyway, here are the pictures of little Baby Webb at 16wks1d.

Can I tickle the baby?

This weekend was a real whirlwind for me and the little bambino. I left Saturday around lunchtime to go to the big T-Town for some family time. First stop was to see Cam and little Jacks (so sad Jenny wasn't there, but completely understand her need for "me" time). This was my first time visiting with Jack Jack, and let me just say that he has got to be one of the cutest babies EVER!!! He actually let me hold him and play with him for a little while before he decided that he wanted to go back to Da-da. It was so sweet getting to see my little Cam with his very own baby! I know, I know, he is not my Cam anymore and he definitely isn't little, but to me he will always be the baby brother that my mom and dad never gave me. So we caught up on family gossip and I left him to make my next stop.

Jacks (I know he is just too cute right??!!)

Ok, my next stop was my mom's house where my nephew, Ethan, had been not so patiently waiting on me and "the little baby" to arrive. As soon as I got out of my car I heard the pitter-patter of little feet running to the back door. I was greeted with a four year olds face plastered to a glass door yelling "Aunt Ashley is here!!!". Apparently, he had been waiting on me since he woke up that morning:) As soon as I opened the door he informed me that he was going to spend the night with me and Uncle Tim. Then the questions began... Robyn had already explained to Ethan that a little baby was growing in my tummy and he couldn't wait to lay the questions on me. The first question was "Aunt Ashley, can I hear the baby?" He pressed his little head to my tummy and said "yep, I can hear the little baby alright." The next question was "can I tickle the baby?" He proceeded to barely rub his finger tips on my tummy real fast. Then he said, " can the little baby hear me?" He proceeded to put his lips right on my tummy and move them back and forth, then quickly pressed his ear to my tummy and looked up to me and said, "yep, it can hear me." Needless to say much of my visit with Ethan this weekend consisted of talking about "the little baby". He is soooo excited! Sunday he informed me and Tim that we should name "the little baby" Nemo, because he had a fish named Nemo and it was an awesome fish so if we named "the little baby" Nemo then it would be an awesome little baby. I really enjoyed seeing his perspective on it all!

We also let Ethan carve a HUGE pumpkin that Tim brought back from his trip to Illinois last weekend. He wasn't really as excited as I thought he would be about it, but I think that was because Tim had already cleaned all of the gooey pumpkin guts out, and he didn't get to make a mess with it. Shortly after the pumpkin carving I had to take them back home:( I always hate that part!

On the ride home Ethan asked me if I was going to give my little baby to them to keep once it grew big enough to come out of my tummy. I explained that we had to share the baby, and he did not like that concept at all!!! He immediately said "Mommy we have to have a little baby RIGHT NOW!" Robyn reminded him that she had just had surgery and she couldn't have a little baby right now, but she would get on that mission ASAP. He wasn't really pleased with that answer, but he didn't complain.

Well, that's all for my eventful weekend. Tomorrow is my 16 week check-up with the doctor. They are supposed to be doing an ultrasound to check on everything YAY! Keep your fingers crossed that bambino cooperates and we can find out if its a boy or a girl...I will post pics as soon as possible:)

From the Beginning

So as you may know by now Tim and I are expecting a little bambino (ETA April 5, 2010).

This little one came as a HUGE surprise to us. The past weeks have been a whirlwind of confusion/surprise/being freaked out for the both of us. In May of 2007 doctors told me that I would never conceive on my own, so of course when I found out that I was pregnant a million things went through my mind. Mostly, OMG what in the world am I going to do with a baby??!!! I don't really know if I'm supposed to tell people that this is how I felt, but it is, so I'm telling.

Because of everything that I went through back in 2007, we decided that we would keep everything to ourselves until after the first ultrasound and confirmation that all was ok in the womb. Of course doctors do not want to see you until you around 8 wks unless you are having some trouble so we sat on wait until September 29. At this appointment, according to my LMP, they estimated me to be 7wks6days (you can even see that at the bottom of the little ultrasound pic) but after some initial measurements they realized that I was indeed 13wks1day. So I asked lots of questions like how could this be??? Why did I have a period in August if I was pregnant?? etc, etc, etc. They assured me that having a period so close to when I conceived is normal and that this had no bearing on the baby, and most importantly did not mean that anything was wrong with me or my little one. Dr. Umana did decide to keep me as high risk until at least 20 weeks just to be on the safe side, and he gave me this cute little speech about calling him if I felt any unusual pain or had any bleeding. "If you need to call me at 2:00 a.m., then please just say, this is Ashley Gilbert Ectopic, and I will know who you are and meet you at the hospital." So until I reach 20 weeks that is me Ashley Gilbert Ectopic!

So I plan to try and keep everyone updated with pics (baby bump pics and ultrasound pics), weird cravings, weight gain, etc. I have been reading up on pregnancy blogs and I find it really neat that everyone can keep up with whats going on with mom and baby with just a click of the mouse! Its truly amazing what technology has brought us these days! Especially when I have people all over the U.S. (from Washington State to Florida) wanting to keep up with everything...so here is my solution to keeping you all in the loop:)

So I never weighed myself pre-pregnancy and prior to going to my first doctor's appointment I am really not sure of my weight, but I guesstimate around 105 so I am using that as my starting point. First doctor's appointment I weighed in at 107. So Dr. Umana has informed me that I should gain around 30 lbs. Apparently, even being 13wks1day preggo I was borderline underweight according to my BMI so that means I needed to gain weight anyway.

As for cravings, well I did crave pomegranate smoothies from Dunkin Donut one morning, but those hopes and dreams were crushed when I was informed by my faithful friend, Jennifer, that they discontinued the pomegranate smoothie??!! I was like WHAT!!!??? I quickly got over it and moved on to tacos from Taco Bell. Actually I am really not sure if that is actually a craving or just something that appeals to me. I have an aversion to meat. Yep, me the double cheeseburger queen has an aversion to meat!!! Taco Bell has been good for me because as you may very well know, they do not utilize their meat very much. So fruits and veggies have been my thing. Oh and Honey Nut Cheerios have been a life saver in the mornings (not too sweet but just sweet enough, and not too heavy but enough to satisfy hunger, and I can carry a little Ziploc bag around with me at work so if I feel some queasiness coming on I can pop a few). Oh and Kraft Mac & Cheese. Yep the original kind in the blue box...this one has killed Tim because he is a Velveeta Shells & Cheese type of guy, but hey I am still able to actually cook him dinner at night so I think he is just thankful for that lol.

Morning sickness is lingering, and I'm starting to think that it may never go away UGH... but it is limited to once while I am getting ready normally so I guess I can live with that. The worst part is that if I don't eat dinner before 8:00 I cant really eat because for some reason I get a type of weird night sickness too. I say its weird because it only comes around when I eat past 8:00 p.m.

My next appointment is Tuesday, October 20, because I'm supposed to be at 16 weeks by then and due to my being considered high risk, Dr. Umana wanted me to be seen again before 20 weeks (which is when he would normally schedule the next appointment). Keep your fingers crossed because we may be able to find out the gender on this visit!!!

Keep you posted on any new events, and I will try to get baby bump pics up every week - every two weeks (no promises though).
